Exclusive Video: MI Pro-Union Crowd Destroys Tent with People Inside

A group of pro-union, progressive protesters leveled a large tent with people inside during Tuesday's demonstrations outside the Michigan Capitol building in Lansing against right to work legislation.

The protesters shouted "scab" and "Walmart tent" as they advanced. The tent, one of many at the demonstration, had been put up by the pro-right to work group Americans For Prosperity.
Breitbart News' footage shows the mob demolishes the tent in less than two minutes. The large structure appeared to be approximately 40’ x 40’ in size and was put up on the front lawn of the Michigan capital. The tent had been used by AFP to house members who were reportedly threatened at last week’s demonstration.
As AFP Michigan State Director Scott Hagerstrom left the scene and was talking with media, he reported continued harassment from union thugs, telling him not to come back to Michigan. Mr. Hagerstrom is a native of Michigan from a union family.

Just a few minutes into the demonstration against Michigan’s right to work legislation, Union loyalists show their disdain for free speech by instructing and shouting down members of the Tea Party on the steps of the Michigan State Capitol building. The incident occurred around 7:15 AM and was captured exclusively by Breitbart news.

Americans Don't Need Higher Taxes. But They Do Need an Honest Appraisal of their Choices.

The title of Ezra Klein’s latest Washington Post column announces that “Yesterday’s tax revenues can’t support tomorrow’s America.” The piece makes the case that tax revenues will have to increase from their historical average of about 18 percent of GDP in order to support higher health costs and an aging population.
But you could just as easily make the argument in reverse: An honest look at the history of America’s federal revenues strongly suggests we can’t afford the same level of health and retirement benefits into the future. To put it another way: Historical tax revenues can’t support projected increases in entitlement spending.

Washington is consumed with wrangling over how to deal with the specter of big automatic tax hikes that will hit Jan. 1 when the Bush tax cuts expire. It's also the day that the sequester kicks in, which is the budget-wonk term for an automatic process that will slow the growth of government spending over the next 10 years.

This is the so-called fiscal cliff; it's a fight that has important implications, particularly since some of the tax increases will have a significantly harmful impact on incentives to work, save, invest and create jobs. In a competitive global economy, for instance, it is bizarrely self-destructive to increase the double taxation of dividends and capital gains.
And keep in mind that taxpayers already are getting thrown down a steep hill. A bunch of ObamaCare-related tax hikes are also set to take effect in January, most notably higher tax rates on investment. And the payroll-tax holiday will almost surely expire as well; it may have been an ineffective gimmick in terms of job creation, but it did make a difference for family budgets. Plus, millions of Americans face the specter of getting dragged into the indecipherable swamp of the Alternative Minimum Tax if lawmakers don't take action.

Former Romney adviser Avik Roy now advises conservatives "to accept the defeat of the movement to repeal Obamacare." Conservatives should instead shift their energies to "the most desired conservative outcome of all: a fiscally sustainable, fully reformed set of health-care entitlements."

National Review, that conservative icon that "stands athwart history, yelling Stop," seems a strange venue for encouraging conservatives to accept defeat. Roy also has a curious understanding of conservatism's goals, which as I recall have more to do with protecting freedom than with administering the entitlement state. But when Roy likened ongoing Obamacare resistance to Teruo Nakamura, "the last known holdout from the Imperial Japanese Army, [who] finally surrendered" on a Pacific island some 30 years after his team lost World War II, I nearly spat out my sushi.
